Port Macquarie Astronomical Association appointed King & Campbell in 2018 to design a multi-use facility which included an astronomical observatory dome, 100 seat auditorium, public display, kiosk, staff offices and public amenities.

The building is located in Rotary Park, an open space reserve above Port Macquarie’s main beach, Town Beach.
Development approval for the project was granted in late 2020.

King & Campbell remained part of the team during construction providing technical advice when requested. Working directly with NSW Public Works managing the construction process. This project has been completed, and was officially opened in 2025.
